The objectives of the OttawaTechCommunity are to:

  1. Provide the most reliable and comprehensive information on Ottawa's technology community
  2. Develop the tools to make sense of this information in real-time
  3. Showcase the capabilities of Web 2.0 technology
  4. Assist communities in other Canadian cities to successfully operate similar open source projects


The OttawaTechCommunity is a Web 2.0 platform with a wiki user interface that enables collaborative content creation, and the use of tools to make sense of the content created. The OttawaTechCommunity is evidence of the innovativeness of the Ottawa community and the benefits of open source software, content and processes.

Numerous initiatives have taken place since 1995 to drive innovation-led regional economic development: Regional Innovation Initiatives in Ottawa.
